Manage Group

  • Updated

After creating the group assessment activity, it is necessary to assign groups to the students. Otherwise, students will not be able to submit their work. Within the LEB2 system, there are 3 ways to manage groups:

  • Creating new groups
  • Reusing existing groups
  • Random

Which role can manage group?

  • Teaching team and student (as permission setting)

How to create a new group

  1. Select the assessment activity you want
  2. Click "Groups" tab
  3. Click the dropdown menu labeled "Manage Groups"
  4. Click "Create a New Group"
  5. A group creation form will appear. Enter group name. *Please note that the name should not contain special characters such as \ / : * ? " < > |
  6. Select the students you want to add to the group by searching from the list or using their student ID
  7. Once you have the desired number of members, click "Save" button

How to reuse existing groups

By using this method, you can reuse groups that have been previously created from a previous group activity within the classroom.

  1. Select the assessment activity you want
  2. Click "Groups" tab
  3. Click the dropdown menu labeled "Manage Groups"
  4. Click "Reuse"
  5. A group creation form will appear, and you can click the dropdown to select the previous group activity you want to reuse.
  6. Click "Save" button

How to random groups

By using this method, you only needs to specify the number of students per group. The system will then automatically assign student names to the groups.

  1. Select the assessment activity you want
  2. Click "Groups" tab
  3. Click the dropdown menu labeled "Manage Groups"
  4. Click "Random"
  5. A group creation form will appear. Enter number of members per group. You can also refresh to generate new random names.
  6. Click "Save" button

All 3 methods mentioned above allow you to assign permissions for group management. If you want to grant the ability to edit groups only to the teaching team, select "Teaching Team." Alternatively, if you want to grant permissions for everyone in the classroom to edit groups, select "Everyone," which will allow students to edit groups as well.

Note

  • Using the "Reuse" and "Random" methods will result in the deletion of all previously created groups (both those created by the instructor and by students) in the activity, whether it's a case of the teacher creating them or students creating them themselves.
  • It is possible to edit group names and members later.
  • Once students have submitted their work, it will not be possible to edit group management.
